Epex Legends Mobile is launching soft in 10 countries today as electronic arts strive to take its popular Battle Royale to mobile players.
Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is a huge free-to-play hit on PC and consoles. Apex Legends Mobile is now available for testing for players in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina and Colombia.
This limited regional launch will help Dave teams at Respawn and Lightspeed & Quantum Studios test matchmaking and progress systems, backend infrastructure and in-game commerce, as well as regional live operation capabilities. The Response 10 limited regional launch will provide updates for players outside of countries in the coming weeks and months as development continues.
In this limited regional launch, players will be able to play Battle Royale on the classic World’s Edge map. They can also try three game modes, Team Deathmatch, Mini Battle Royale, 3v3 Arenas and Rank Battle Royale.
When Player Progress resets after the completion of the soft launch, players will be able to complete limited time challenges and receive limited, unique rewards such as badges, weapon charms, and beta banner frames that can be taken to worldwide launches.
Players from participating countries can join the limited regional launch by downloading the game from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
When Apex Legends Mobile and Apex Legends both happen in the same universe, they will be on separate servers. Apex Legends Mobile is the only experience delivering controls, content, social features and game modes designed for mobile play, not crossplay with PC / console.
While the full game isn’t ready for release, Respawn said Apex Legends will be able to play some of the content that will be available at the mobile launch. Legends, or characters, are now available, including Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Reth, Bangalore, Octane, Mirage, and Pathfinder. Caustic can be unlocked on Battle Pass Tier 25.
Apex Legends Mobile will have an in-game store and will offer purchasing content. In the store, you’ll find a variety of options, including themed, time-limited store vaults, light crates and apex packs. The “for you” tab in the store also includes options for crafting and the ability to purchase individually curated cosmetic items. You can also purchase a Premium Battle Pass or a Premium Plus Battle Pass with additional bonus levels, XP and rewards through the Battle Pass page.
Players participating in the limited regional launch will have access to the store until May 3rd. The progress of the account earned during the limited regional launch period and the unlocked item will be reset before the game launch. Any items purchased using in-game currency during this time will be converted into equivalent value in-game currency and will be available in the account when the game launches later this year.
