GamesBeat Summit 2022 returns April 26-28 with its biggest event for gaming leaders. Reserve your place here!
I sat down to write this, all ready to talk more about Ghostwire: Tokyo and Tina Tina Wonderlands and other games playing this week. Then I noticed an email announcing that Rockstar was launching a new subscription service called GTA +. This paid service – it costs $ 5.99 per month – is exclusive to the next-gen console for this 10-year-old MMO. It offers a range of extras for those who want to pay for it.
So in honor of Rockstar. ,, Initiative, I announce the launch of GamesBeat +. You don’t have to pay anything for it, and you don’t really get anything except the privilege of reading some more of my thoughts every week. And it will still be called Saffron Focus, because this verse is the only reason my family name exists.
There has been a bit of a mixed bag this week. The good news is that we’re obviously getting some great new games: CD Project Red is creating a new idea. Illfonic announces new Ghostbusters 4v1 multiplayer titles. There was other good news this week: APIC raised $ 50 million from Fortnight to donate to humanitarian relief in Ukraine. We’ve got some great games launched this week. It’s not going to be that bad.
But not so good news, we have heard that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is being delayed. The EA Sports PGA Tour was also delayed. Delay is never fun. The worst news for me is that a judge is apparently preparing to allow a settlement in the Activision Blizzard sexual harassment lawsuit. This would mean that the big company could pay $ 18 million to fix their problems. The settlement could also reduce the Department of Fair Employment and Housing case, which is still ongoing. It would be frustrating if this whole endeavor ended with the payment of Activision Blizzard Pocket Change and nothing else.
