Summer Gaming Brohaha is officially upon us. Following last week’s state of play, we now transition to the Conga line of Summer Game Fest and its accompanying small show this week. This will eventually result in an Xbox showcase on Sunday. The Summer Game Fest, which started yesterday, featured some fun games, but. Well, you may have noticed a pattern. I definitely did.

Who knows for what reason, Summer Game Fest was absolutely Bad With space-based sci-fi horror titles. These include Aliens: The Dark Descent, The Callisto Protocol, Fort Solis and Routine. Apparently many game developers were collectively nostalgic for Dead Space / Alien Isolation / System Shock a few years ago. In the realm of non-space-based horror, we also saw the Luber of the Bluber team’s new project – not at all a Silent Hill 2 remake that makes everyone think they’re working, but oh well.

We also got a look at the remake of The Last of Us, aptly called The Last of Us Part 1. Game details were accidentally revealed before the big show, but we also got some comparative shots between the two titles. The atmosphere and lighting seem to have gotten a modest, but beautiful upgrade. Speaking of character models, I’m not so sure the remake is very upgraded. We also saw headlines like Goat Simulator 3, which delighted with the trailer parody of Development-Hellbound Dead Island 2. I also enjoyed watching Marvel’s Midnight Sons, and between that and Gotham Nights, October is becoming a festival for comic books. Fans

I spent some time playing with Boss Factory, which is a demo for the upcoming Saints Row. Announced at Summer Game Fest, it allows players to test customization features and become their boss before the game launches on August 23. You can see the results above: I have managed to make myself in terms of reality, because I want to intimidate the people of Santo Ileso personally. It’s a nice customization tool, but of course it’s just a small part of the whole game. I’m also playing a demo for the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hops, but I’ll keep my thoughts to myself at that point.
