Before I get into sports news, you may have heard that my colleague Jeff Grubb is leaving Gamesbeat after 10 years. I’m going to miss him, and I wish him well for his future content. In the meantime, all your loyal GamesBeat readers will be stuck with me! (And Mike and Dean, but mostly me.)

In gaming news, we had our first official summer gaming event this week, Sony’s State of Play. As promised by the company, it was mostly third-party titles and VR games. But unlike previous times, where they were sticking to their own given parameters resulting in some frustrating tweeds, the condition of the game was really pretty good. We got a glimpse of Street Fighter 6, which emphasizes the “Street” part of the title, and Final Fantasy XVI, about which Mike was excited.

I was particularly pleased to see the long-rumored remake of Resident Evil 4. Earlier, I said that remaking the best game in the series was a futile endeavor, but I like the new atmosphere. The trailer gives the game a bit more of a Village-Y atmosphere, and the fact that Resident Evil 4 was more of an action title than a horror is the only nitpick I’ve ever had with it. We are also going to fight Lady Dimitrescu in VR, which will be either scary or. ,, Something else.

As a biover fan, this week, I was a little confused by the announcement of the upcoming Dragon Edge name. It will be called Dreadwolf, which seems to correspond to what they have annoyed so far. Now if I could play the game just before my hair turned white, I would probably see the culmination of that story. However, I do know that two games are coming out this year (at the time of writing, at least): Pokemon Scarlett and Violet, which will launch on November 18; And Stray, the cyberpunk kitty adventure that launches on July 19th.
