Lumi Interactive is announcing a રોકાણ 6.75M seed investment, led by a16z. 1Up Ventures, Galileo Ventures and Heracles Capital also participated in the round. Double loop games boss Emily Greer also participated as an angel investor.

Overseasbeed Seed Round is the largest venture capital investment in a female-established game studio in Australia. Studio is the developer behind Kinder World, a free mobile game that lets players take care of virtual houseplants by performing real-world mindfulness tasks.

“Lumi is entering their own fast-growing, and much-needed, range,” said James Gwertzman of A16z. “Here, the goal is not to achieve or compete, but to slow down, step back and take the much-needed break for mental health.”

These funds will be used to follow Lumi Interactive’s mission to make the world a better place. Lumi Interactive plans to augment its development team and scale Kinder World for significant global launches. Studio Kinder World wants to bring the experience to more platforms, both online and offline.

So what is Kinder World and what is Crowdhilling

Kinder World asks players to engage in evidence-based self-care activities. Lumi employs interactive full-time wellness researcher, Dr. Henna c. Gunderman, whose work provides information on various activities within the game. The whole game is based on his concept of ‘Crowdhealing’ and once players take care of their emotional well-being they are lightly pushed to reach out to other players.

The idea is that these acts of ‘Kayaluta’ will improve both the well-being of the individual players and at the same time the well-being of the community as a whole.

“These last few years have been anything but compassionate,” Lumi Interactive boss Lauren Clinic told GamesBeat in a statement. “But even in the depths of Melbourne’s long lockdown, my little team saw how everyday acts of compassion, for ourselves and others, make the world feel like a kind place.”

Kinder World has made a splash on TikTok, attracting mostly women and non-binary audiences. Lumi is taking advantage of the growing popularity to work with fans on the development of interactive games. Thanks to their input Lumi Interactive is able to make sure that the game doesn’t just seem like a pointless busy job.

Kinder World is available on iOS and Android and is expected to be fully launched by the end of 2022.
