Atlus announced today on Twitter that the Shin Megami Tensei V has now sold 1 million copies worldwide.

The Japanese RPG debuted as Switch Exclusive in November. The Megami Tense franchise was launched in Japan in 1987 on Femicon (the Japanese equivalent of the Nintendo Entertainment System). Since then the series has had several sequels and spin-offs, including popular Persona games.

SMTV is by far the best-selling megami tense game, not counting the persona subs. The Shin Megami Tensei IV, which was launched for the Nintendo 3DS, sold 600,000 copies.

Megami Tensei games focus on complex turn-based combat and monster negotiation systems, allowing you to recruit enemies into your team. You can also add monsters to new allies.
