Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is just one game coming in a packed 2023

More and more games from 2022 are already moving. Leaving this holiday season on games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Pokemon Scarlett and Violet. But it is already leading the log jam of releases in the first quarter of 2023. These may include Bethesda as well as some of the major publications on electronic arts and more.

EA is already confirming a number of releases for the quarter ending March 31. In the slide of its most recent earnings report, the company notes that it will have five games for that period. However, none of the games were mentioned by name except the PGA Tour.

Instead, the EA claimed that it would have the main IP, partner title, remake and sports title. While I’m unable to determine what the partner’s title is, it’s probably a game like Unraveled or It’s Tax Two. But the sports title is the new super mega baseball. The remake is Dead Space, and the main IP is Star Wars JD: Survivor, according to people familiar with EA’s plans.

Internally, EA originally wanted to release both Dead Space and JD this year. But now, EA has confirmed that the Dead Space remake is set to launch on January 27th. And then it plans to launch a sequel to Star Wars JD: Fallen Order before the end of March. In addition to the partner title and sports games, it’s already a busy start to the year.

And he’s just a publisher.

Microsoft, meanwhile, has Redfall and Starfield to fit in its year. The company may try to pull out at least one game before the end of its fiscal year on June 30. And it may even try to fit in Q1 with Dead Space and Star Wars.

And publishers still have a handful of 2022 games that could slip into early 2023. God of War: Ragnarok still doesn’t have a specific release date for this year, for example.

For large gaming companies, delays are not as big a problem as they used to be. Yes, ever delaying costs extra money, but that doesn’t seem to hurt the prospect of a sale. This is true even if you go from the festive season to February. Or, at the very least, many publishers are taking lessons from the success of FromSoftware’s Alden Ring, which has reached close to 14 million copies sold since its February release.
