Tomato Games, headquartered in Amman, Jordan, is a leading publisher in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. Notably, the company is responsible for releasing more than 50 games, including VIP Bluetooth, Fashion Queen and Clash of Clans. Their titles have reached over 150 million downloads.

Recently, MSA Novo, a branch of MSA Capital that deals in emerging markets, has invested 5 million in Tematum Games. The Beijing-based investment firm has been very active in the MENA region for the past few years. They now have a portfolio of 35 companies across the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa.

“Emerging markets are witnessing the explosive growth of mobile gaming, as we have seen in China,” said Ben Harberg, managing partner of MSA Novo. “Tamatem has established itself as a leading development and distribution platform for gaming in the Middle East, a region with the most compelling user characteristics globally, especially the average revenue per user and daily time spent online.”

Tematum Games expands its horizons

At the top of the investment, companies are now strategic partners with a unified goal – expansion into the Chinese market. This means not only bringing their games to China, but also bringing some back.

“MSA has a deep connection to the Chinese gaming ecosystem and global developers,” Harburg continued. “We will work with Tamatem to build strategic partnerships with major gaming companies to accelerate the company’s development work, as well as to attract top franchisees in the region for localization and optimization. We are proud to partner with Jordan’s flagship technology company as we strive to provide global best practices and connectivity to accelerate the growth of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. “

Tamatem Games plans to expand the role and double its 120 workforce next year. The company sees the relationship with MSA Novo as a great step towards expanding their portfolio and reaching new markets.

“We are delighted to be partnering with MSA Novo. This partnership is a great testament to the huge potential of the MENA mobile games market, “said Hussein Hammo, CEO and founder of Tamatum Games. “We look forward to expanding the ever-evolving mobile games ecosystem and taking it to the next level.”
