The Polish studio behind games like 1C Entertainment, Kings Bounty, today announced that it has been acquired by Tencent. Tencent has a majority stake in the company, and plans to rebrand the studio within six months.

Tencent will previously acquire a stake in parent company 1C. Under the terms of the deal, any subsidiary with 1C Entertainment and its 1C branding will be renamed. We don’t know yet what the new name will be.

Tomasz Nieszporski, a member of the 1C Entertainment Management Board, said in a statement: “We are really excited about this deal. This is a wonderful opportunity for 1CE to achieve our most wonderful dreams and aspirations in the video games business. Our vision and passion will now be backed by a leading global game company, and I am honored to have the unique opportunity to work with Tencent and other top creative minds who are part of its global ecosystem. “

Lee Shen, CTO of Tencent Games Global, added: “We can’t be happier working with a talented team at 1C Entertainment, as we can support them as they begin a new phase of development.”
