About the index
The Blue Technology Barometer ranks 66 coastal countries and territories on their progress and commitment to protecting the stability of the oceans. It measures the degree to which economies are prioritizing the protection of marine health through sustainable maritime activity, blue innovation and policy implementation.
The Blue Technology Barometer measures the performance of countries and territories on four pillars:
The Blue Technology Barometer was developed through an analysis of selected datasets and preliminary research interviews with global Blue Technology innovators, policy makers and international maritime stability organizations.
It ranks the economies of 66 countries and territories as having regions with large or economically significant coastlines with four distinct pillars: marine environment, maritime activity, technological innovation, and policy and regulation.
Within each column, a series of indicators સૂ a list of qualitative and quantitative factors પછી were then selected and populated. Through the trend analysis, research and consultative peer-review process with the subject matter experts interviewed for this report, weighting assumptions were assigned to determine the relative importance of each indicator and pillar affecting the country’s blue technology leadership.
