Tigera has launched the Pay-As-You-Go Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP), called Calico Cloud, built on the container networking and security solution Calico Open Source.

The solution uses the principles of zero-confidence to reduce the cloud attack surface of organizations while taking advantage of machine learning to detect known and unknown threats in a multicloud or hybrid cloud environment.

This provides a solution for enterprises and decision makers that they can use to secure cloud-native applications with image assurance, configuration management and runtime threat defense – all of which have traditionally been difficult to protect.

Cloud-native security challenge

Tigra’s announcement comes as more organizations move to the cloud to enable employees to work from home, a trend that gained momentum during the COVID-19 epidemic and does not appear to be slowing down any time soon.

According to Gartner, the shift to the cloud in 2022 puts more than $ 1.3 trillion in enterprise IT costs at stake, and will reach about 8 1.8 trillion in 2025. With this growing investment in the cloud, the need for cloud-native security solutions is growing rapidly with the advent of new CNAPP platforms entering the market.

“Today, every security company is a CNAPP company. However, the challenges of securing cloud-native applications remain unresolved. In a recent cloud-native application security survey by Snyk, about 60% of people said that adopting a cloud-native application raises security concerns, “said Ratan Tipperney, President and CEO of Tigra.

“While CNAPPS works better in detecting vulnerabilities and zero-day risks, security teams are under intense pressure to minimize risks from exposure and troubleshoot,” he said.

“Tigera CNAPP, Calico Cloud, takes a proactive approach to security by introducing zero-confidence principles to reduce application attack levels, using machine learning to address known and zero-day threats to runtime security risks, enabling continuous compliance, prioritizing and minimizing Can be. Vulnerabilities and risks from attacks through security policy changes.

Using open source to make the cut stand out

Calico Cloud is now one of the many CNAPP providers competing in the fast-growing cloud security market, valued at $ 40.8 billion by 2021 and expected to reach $ 77.5 billion by 2026 as cybersecurity risks become more complex. Is. Sellers

The market is highly competitive, with one of the organization’s main competitors being Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma Cloud 3.0, a CNAPP solution that provides agent-less and agent-based security.

Fortune 100 has a customer base solution of 77%, and 1,676 Prisma Cloud subscribers were registered last year as analysts expect total revenue to reach between $ 5.35 billion and $ 5.40 billion in 2022.

Another competitor, Aqua Security, recently expanded its CNAPP to continuously search for cloud-native assets, providing active workload scanning detection for vulnerabilities and providing a composite risk analysis of risks to the environment, while achieving a વર્ષે 1 billion valuation last year.

However, Tipperary suggests that Tiger’s secret weapon in the CNAPP arms race is its history with Calico open source, which already powers more than 100 million containers and half a million clusters in 2 million nodes in 166 countries.

“There’s a need to build a lot of zero trust on a strong foundation of networking, where we are industry leaders. We’ve taken advantage of this with lessons learned over the years as a foundation for building our zero trust capabilities. With full-stock observability for containers, coubernets and the cloud led to the industry’s most widely active CNAPP, “he said.
