Trump’s banishment from Facebook and Twitter: A timeline.

After Jan. President Donald J. Social media sites, including Twitter and Facebook, were urged by Trump supporters to limit the glory of hate speech and violence on their platforms, including the 6 attacks on the Capitol.

Jan. 6, 2021: Mr. Trump tweeted alongside a post on Facebook. Other posts include a video of his supporters saying “go home now”, while also promoting “I know how you feel”. Both Twitter and Facebook eventually removed some of the posts and said the president would be suspended for at least another day.

Jan. 7, 2021: Facebook Bar Trump by the end of his term or until January. 20. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s chief executive, says Mr. Trump was great at using Mr. Risk’s service. Mr. Trump posted a video on Twitter saying he would support a peaceful transition of power.

Jan. 8, 2021: On Twitter permanently Mr. Trump effectively removed him from his service “because of the risk of further escalation of violence” from his favorite megaphone.

Jan. 10, 2021: Snatched from a stage, Mr. Trump faces the challenge of finding a new way to focus.

June 4, 2021: Facebook updates its stance on Shree’s suspension. Trump’s account says it will last at least two years. Facebook also says it will end its policy of treating politicians’ posts differently than other users.

June 7, 2021: The Times reporters analyze hundreds of online communications and posts and find that Mr. Trump’s most ardent supporters continued to spread his message after the ban – doing what he himself could not do.

Feb. 18, 2022: Satya Samajik, Shri. Trump’s As an alternative to Twitter, its rollout has been delayed, even as the field of sites pitching itself as a free platform becomes more dense.

May 6, 2022: A federal judge in San Francisco said he was not convinced that Twitter had violated Mr. Trump’s free speech rights, Mr. Trump’s lawsuit against the company.

May 10, 2022: Elon Musk, who is in the process of buying Twitter, says he will “reverse” the permanent ban on Shree. If the deal happens, let Trump and him back on the social network.

May 13, 2022: Elon Musk said in a tweet that he had a 44 billion bid to buy Twitter “Temporarily on hold” Unless he can get more details to confirm that spam and fake accounts represent less than 5 percent of the total users of the social network.
