Where to get abortion pills and how to use them

In liberal states like New York and California, a person can have a medical abortion at a fertility clinic, and in many of these states it is possible to do everything remotely, through telemedicine consultation.

In states trying to ban abortion, it has become difficult to find a clinic, and some have even banned telemedicine abortion. If Row Overwhelmed, doctors in some of these states would commit a crime if they prescribed pills.

But it is still possible to get them. One way is to arrange a mailing address in a state where telemedicine abortion is legal. Another option is through Aid Access, which has foreign doctors who will prescribe pills and mail from pharmacies in India. Because AIDS Access has doctors who do not work in the U.S., they are not subject to state law (unless they travel to those states). Through this remedy, Aid Access says, it is still performing telemedicine abortions and sending pills to all 50 states.

An individual can order pills directly from a pharmacy outside the US without a prescription and then self-manage the abortion.

An organization called Plan C has a search engine that will suggest the easiest way to get abortion pills in each state. It maintains a list of foreign pharmacies that it considers legitimate, delivering pills starting at about $ 250. This route requires a credit card or other form of payment electronically.

Is ordering abortion pills from India a sketch?

Yes. Pharmacy websites often seem very vague, and according to the US FDA, importing pills from outside the country is generally illegal. However, the agency has a policy of looking the other way when drugs are for personal use.

At present, ordering pills online does not seem to pose much of a legal risk to individuals, although this could change in the future if states seek to make possession a crime.
